Diabetes Treatment – CyclosetTreatment for Type 2 diabetes should be discussed, in detail, with your health care professional, in order to decide what would be the best course of action to pursue. That being said, education is power, when it comes to your own wellness, and you should be aware of that, Cycloset is a prescription that has been approved by the FDA, in order to effectively reduce blood glucose levels, without raising insulin levels.

Cycloset can be used in conjunction with other medications prescribed for Type 2 diabetes. During clinical studies, A1C numbers improved, and blood sugar levels significantly decreased, and patients showed no sign of weight gain.

Effectiveness and safety of Cycloset in pediatric patients has not been conclusively established, and for this reason, Cycloset is not recommended for children that suffer from Type 2 diabetes.

Some of the most common negative side effects noted, in less than 10% of patients who participated in the clinical study included: dizziness, headache, fatigue and nausea, which was followed by vomiting. When higher doses of bromocriptine were administered, hallucinations and psychotic reactions were noted.

Cycloset (a brand of bromocriptine) is not useful for treating Type 1 diabetes, but when combined with daily exercise and consistent healthy eating habits, Cycloset can be an effective treatment for adults with Type 2 diabetes.

Do not use Cycloset if you experience any of the following:

  1. An allergic reaction to bromocriptine.
  2. Breastfeeding, because this drug may lower the hormones that are needed to produce sufficient amounts of breast milk.
  3. Chronic migraines that have caused fainting spells.
  4. Lactose intolerance.
  5. Excessively low or high blood pressure.
  6. History of heart issues.
  7. Kidney or liver disease.
  8. Stomach ulcers or a history of intestinal bleeding.
  9. A history of psychosis or severe mental illness.
