Funny when you think about how a motorbike accident cured type 2 diabetes but it did and this is what happened around 5 years ago.
You see my husband was leading a typical bachelor’s life before I came on the scene get the picture hamburgers and chips for lunch and sometimes dinner, beer with the boys on Friday nights and really no exercise. Unless you can call the 10 minute walk to pick up a pizza for dinner during the week counts? Hmm guess not. As a result of his carefree days and neglect of a balance diet he gained weight, not a few pounds but a stack of weight.
Then How a Motorbike accident cured type 2 diabetes.
He was not feeling all that great and had numerous tests that came back he had type 2 diabetes. This result had the doctor prescribe insulin tablets. Nothing really changed until I came on the scene I suppose he still was testing his blood sugar levels daily, but didn’t do much about his diet at all. He was still eating all the wrong things.
That night back 5 years ago is how a motorcycle accident cured type 2 diabetes. You see that on the way home from work he was hit by a woman that turned in front of him and collected him and the bike.
He lay on the ground with his tibia, fibia and femur shattered and at the time de-gloved his foot. I was a really serious accident, and one that had him in hospital for 5 months and he also needed to endure a further 12 operations.
If there can be anything good about such a tragic accident is that his diet was carefully monitored and the blood sugars tested regularly. As he was totally immobile he was placed on a restrictive diet suitable for diabetics.
Over the course of 5 months he lost well over 5 stone, this weight loss meant that he was able to get off all blood pressure and other medication and he was declared that he was no longer diabetic.
Obviously this was a drastic way to lose weight but it served as a serious wake up call to continue keeping your weight close to your ideal and really look at what you are eating to keep yourself fit. Exercise is something that should be included into your day to day life to keep your weight under control.
