Paresthesia TreatmentYou may not be familiar with paresthesia treatment, but it is a common occurrence you have likely experienced. Paresthesia is a term used to describe “pins and needles”. This most commonly occurs in your hands and feet when they “fall asleep” and for diabetics, this condition can be more serious than you may think. You may have heard that tingling and numb hands and feet can be a symptom or warning sign for diabetes and this is true for men, women and children. In terms of learning how to treat this condition, it is essential to learn and understand what the underlying cause is in order to make the right decisions when moving forward.

Paresthesia Treatment Steps

For the average person, this condition is very short term and is created by putting constant pressure on the nerve. For example when you are sitting the same way for a long period of time you may experience the pins and needles mentioned above. If you find you are experiencing this more frequently than it may be time to consider paresthesia treatment. When you make the decision to speak with your physician you will immediately discover that constant paresthesia is likely a sign that something more serious is wrong with your health.

Paresthesia TreatmentDiabetes is one of the common causes of paresthesia and when this warning sign presents itself it generally means you are already well into Type 2 diabetes. In some cases you can catch your diabetes during what is known as a pre-diabetes stage but when numbness of the limbs begins you are dealing with a completely developed case of diabetes. In terms of treatment, you really need to deal with the diabetes directly as it is what is causing the numb limbs

At this stage you were likely unaware you had diabetes so the first step in treatment will be to get your blood glucose levels under control. You can do this by adjusting your diet, including physical activity in your day and trying to lose weight if necessary. For the more severe diabetes cases insulin treatment will need to be started immediately to help bring the levels back down or up to where they should be. This can help stop any nerve damage that may be taking place and allow you to move forward.

If you are experiencing paresthesia on a regular basis, visit your doctor immediately to identify the problem before it is too late. Paresthesia treatment solely depends on the underlying problem, once you have this answer you can move forward.
